The ex-receiver of teams such as the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49rs, talked about his humble origins in Alexander City, Alabama, where his mother and grandmother raised him and his three brothers.
Owens shared that one of the keys to his success has been the support he has received from his family, teachers and coaches, who are his team concept and who from the beginning helped him to unleash his potential.
He spoke of the motivation that his mother means, and, for example, he also recalled that Larry Kirksey, a coach he had in San Francisco, helped him develop his skills by tapping into the passion he had for basketball.
"He knew I liked basketball and used that to bring out the best in me. On one play he told me, 'This is like you're playing one-on-one and you're trying to score; you have to go beyond him to get to the basket.' When he made that statement it all clicked for me," he said.
"You have to be consistent, there also has to be a belief that you're going to be good, and then that you're worthy of being not just good, but great, but there's no magic pill to get better or be great," he added.
